Eleven streets lead to the beautiful central square, Piazza del Campo, dominated by the medieval Town Hall. On our tour through the town’s picturesque cobbled lanes, we will admire the medieval mansions, the churches and the Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, which is considered one of the most important works of art in the whole of Italy. 02Day

Montecatini Terme – Viareggio Carnival

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Viareggio and Tuscany’s most famous carnival. The Viareggio Carnival takes place in the Tuscan town of the same name, in Italy. It is one of the most popular carnivals in Europe. The carnival tradition has its roots in 1873, when the first parade was held. This parade of colourful floats takes place along Viale Regina Margherita, and its favourite theme is caricatures of famous people. Italians adore the Viareggio Carnival and, despite the ever-growing number of tourists who flock here every year, the event retains its authentic Italian character. For an entire month, visitors to the town enjoy the very best that Italian culture has to offer, with thrilling night-time parties, masked balls and theatrical performances. Return to Montecatini and dinner at our hotel. Overnight stay.

03Day

On our panoramic guided tour we will see Piazza San Giovanni with the Baptistery of St John and the Renaissance Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, with Brunelleschi’s famous dome. Continuing on, we will walk down to Piazza della Signoria, adorned by the Fountain of Neptune and a copy of Michelangelo’s statue of David. Here stand the Palazzo Vecchio, which today houses the city’s Town Hall, and the Loggia with statues by great Florentine sculptors. We continue to the famous Uffizi Gallery (exterior visit), the renowned and much-photographed Ponte Vecchio bridge with its countless jewellery shops, and Piazza della Repubblica, one of Florence’s most central squares, with its distinctive Arcone arch and the historic cafés Gilli and Paszkowski.
