01Day

ATHENS – ROME (city tour)

Meet at the airport and fly to the “Eternal” City, Rome, dressed in its festive finery. Our guided tour of the “Eternal City” will begin with the Colosseum, the largest surviving ancient Roman amphitheatre in the world, and the Arch of Constantine the Great. Passing along the Via dei Fori Imperiali in the heart of ancient Rome, we will reach the Capitoline Hill and Piazza Venezia with the massive monument dedicated to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of unified Italy, which also houses the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then the famous Trevi Fountain and finally the bustling Piazza di Spagna. We will then pass by the Vatican, the smallest state in the world, home to St Peter's Basilica, the largest church in Christendom. The rest of the day is free to spend as you see fit. Climb up the Palatine Hill, the aristocratic quarter of ancient Rome. Make a wish at the Trevi Fountain, the city's most famous fountain, and get to know the famous Via Veneto with its luxury hotels and cafés up close. An opportunity for shopping in one of the world's well-known shopping districts. Overnight stay.

02Day

ROME (Vatican Museums – St Peter's Basilica)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we suggest a guided tour of the independent Vatican City State, to visit its famous museums, with exhibits that include renowned statues of the ancient world and the Renaissance, such as the Laocoön Group and the Apollo Belvedere, and works by Giotto, Raphael, Da Vinci, Caravaggio and others. Passing through the famous Galleries of the Candelabra, the Tapestries and the Maps, and the Rooms with Raphael's frescoes, we will arrive at the Sistine Chapel with its legendary ceiling painted by Michelangelo. Next we will move on to the majestic St Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world, built over the tomb of the Apostle Peter, where among other things we will see Michelangelo's Pietà and the baldachin by Bernini that towers above the papal altar. Overnight stay. For the guided tour of the Vatican Museums you must register and pay in advance before your departure (€75 for adults and €60 for children up to 18 years old). The price includes admission to the Vatican, the Museums booking fee, headsets and the guided tour by a local Greek-speaking guide).
